Paul's Peloton

Hello. My name is Paul Schnatz. I am serving my first term on the Town Council in Red River, NM. My blog is to show everyone that "One Person Can Make a Difference." In 2004, I began riding a road bicycle and was determined to do a century. On my first two tries, I only completed 86 miles. A very good friend of mine and cancer survivor, John Merrell - owner of Altitudes Restaurant and Wine Bar in Red River, convinced me to do the Ride for the Roses in Austin, Texas. After completing the 104 miles in 4hrs 37min, I began to talk about doing it again in 2005. It was an awesome and overwhelming experience. It was then that I began thinking about doing more than just riding in it again - I began talking about riding to it. Yes, that's right, from Red River, NM to Austin, Texas on my bicycle. Another good friend and cancer survivor, Theresa Buck - owner of the T-Bucks, said she wanted to be part of this ride and I needed a SAG Wagon or Support Group. However, we made a deal. She could support me but she had to ride in the Ride for the Roses once we got there. She agreed. I plan on leaving October 9th from Red River but will actually start on October 7th from Springer due to no overnight facilities. I will keep you posted on the ride on a day by day basis.
Live Strong and Ride On.
